Awful-ly Congress highlights real legislation introduced to the US House of Representatives and the US Senate. Included will be who sponsored the bill along with what the bill is and some factual information about the legislation or affected subjects. Then the real fun starts. Each edition of Awful-ly Congress contains a fictional short story which perhaps may prove a point or two.
Each year thousands of bills are lobbed at Congress equally by the Republican and Democrat parties. Bills that are clearly intentional propagandistic nonsense. Bills that get recycled through with slightly different language allowing the sponsors to grandstand on their “congressional achievements”.
Some of these bills are related to complex subjects and doing research in order to have context can take a considerable amount of time. Every reader should understand that the shaded section on a newsletter which contains pertinent factoids isn’t large enough to house a mere 1/10th of the information one would need to formulate a halfway reasonable opinion about what these bills actually do and the ramifications of.
Do YOUR own research always!! There is no such thing as too-much-information. Gather it and formulate YOUR own opinion.
Every one of these bills can be found at www.congress.gov click on the legislation tab and presto-change-o all of the thousands upon thousands of pages of “congressional achievements” can be accessed for free.
